The concept for this new work began with a workshop (supported by Creative Communities) for Curve to learn about the Treaty of Waitangi and begin a small new dance work. The workshop included morning lecture sessions and discussions on The Treaty with Christine Herzog, from Manakau Polytechnic. Danza Latina's salsa dancing is based on authentic street salsa styles such as Puerto Rican, Cuban flavour's with Afro overtones. We base these around LA & New York Salsa Linear salsa, its a style where the dance moves are moving up and down a line, this is great for being aware of positioning. - [Read more]

Desert Veils is a small, local group of dedicated dancers which was formed by Farida (Jan Grant) in 1992. We have danced at school fairs, weddings, parties, a range of different sorts of cabarets, for other dance teachers, at the Marae in Pages Rd, the Orana Park African Festival and the 24 hour relay for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. Jitterbugs was founded by Michelle Stoupe in 1998 upon her return to NZ after spending two and a half years in Europe on her OE. Michelle had a strong background in dance with several years of ballet and experience in teaching, performing and choreographing Ceroc. It was at a social Ceroc venue in London, that Michelle first saw a couple dancing Lindy Hop. She was immediately intrigued by the dance and the love affair with swing dance began. - [Read more]
